I did an all-day tour with my parents, and there was only one other family who came along. This meant that we got to do so much more than what you get on your typical cruise ship excursion. We stoppe…Full review by Ben X

I've been looking at this company for our trip next summer. On the website it shows taking the bus up and the train down. How did you do the opposite?

Lori, No we did the round trip on the bus as did the majority of our tour, however, one couple did take the train back. Our driver, who was so good, made sure that we arrived at the station in plenty of time and we even waited for the train to arrive and whilst she ensured that the couple were on the train. To be honest it was a very useful 15 minute "comfort break" for the rest of us. I would highly recommend Dyea Dave tours, the bus was comfortable there were only around 15 of us on the bus, so a nice comfortable number and our driver knew the area so well and was full of great information. At the time we went this was all for US$ 89.00 for a 6 hour trip and she made sure we had some time in town before the ship departed. Peter

We stopped in Carcross and had an hour to ourselves, we pottered around, stopped off at a wee place that served excellent home made foods, we had ham and cabbage soup with savoury scones. Sounds basic but it was excellent. Need Canadian Dollars cash. We then pottered around, took photos and had the most enourmous ice cream from the village shop and got our passports stamped from the tourist information place. Stunning trip, Emerald Lake is beautiful, just a short stop for photos, you also see Carcross Desert. We were lucky and saw a bear. Stunning Scenery.
I only have time off mid November. Is anything open around then. Tours, etc. or is it too close to your winter. Thanks

The last cruise ship in the area is usually late Sept.Everything in town is closed up tight. We did our last trip in the third week of Sept and the shops were selling off and said there was one more ship scheduled after us and that was it.Snow flies early up there and unless you drive up thru BC or fly in.I advise not driving up to there in this season ,besides you will be coming to a ghost town until spring
