Murrieta Elementary School opened in 1958 as the first school in what would later become the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. The school serves students in Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 5. Over the years classrooms, offices, and a cafeteria were added and a comprehensive modernization program was completed in 2002. The school has 41 classrooms, a multipurpose room, cafeteria, library, 4 computer lab, administrative offices, a staff lounge and two play areas, one for TK and Kinder students and one designated for students in grades 1-5. Child care facilities for students in grades TK-5 are located on campus in a separate room.
