You can drive to Rivington barn (BL6 7SB) where there is a car park. The walk is fairly gentle if your 84 year old is mobile. There are steps at certain points that might be tiring. It’s not sign …

You can drive to Rivington barn (BL6 7SB) where there is a car park. The walk is fairly gentle if your 84 year old is mobile. There are steps at certain points that might be tiring. It’s not sign posted at all to go walking. I googled a few different routes and had it on my phone when I went for a walk, but ended up just following other people. Hope that helps.

There is plenty of parking. Having said that I would imagine that on busy days like bank holidays parking spaces could be a rare commodity.

The footpaths are obvious but if you are expecting signposts or trail markers then no there aren't many at all. It doesn't really warrant it really though because the Pike is almost always visible and Winter Hill beyond it are easily visible so getting lost is almost impossible.
