Hi I read your review about the POW/Stalag Luft musuem in Zagan. I'm planning to visit the area next month in order to conduct some research. A few years ago I wrote a book about the German Great Escape from Island Farm in south Wales. You mention a guide called Marik. Does he speak English and would you have a contact for him? Many thanks Peter

Peter Marik speaks very good English and is extremely knowledgeable on the the subject. If you type in Stalag Luft III Museum into your search engine, it will take you to the site Muzeum.Zagan.pl. There you can e mail the museum direct and book a tour. Marik will e mail you asking what time you are arriving and arrange the tour. Marik works at the Museum and is always there. There is no charge for the tour and is included in the admission price. I was there with 3 colleagues and all thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Hope that helps. Any problems just ask a further question. Regards Bruce

The location of the site of the camp appears to be open access at all times. The site is c. 500 metres on the right towards the town from the museum and initially is the entrance to the industrial estate. As I recall keep to the left along a track through the woods. You will see a replica guard tower on the right and this marks the location of the tunnel.
