Can the rafting be booked right at the mouth of the river? I don't want to book through a tour operator, wondering if we can drive to where the rafting starts. Thanks!

Yes. You can go right to the operator and get right on the rafts. There were people on the road that kept directing us to the office. Beware. There were some people that told us not to join to the office,they wanted us to book a private raft but our taxi driver recommended us your keep going and go thru the rafting company. Enjoy! We took two boats and loved every minute of it. Louis was our driver and he was absolutely lovely.

Take another day at Frenchmen's cove or Winnifred Beach or enjoy walking upt the river at Reach Falls with a private guide (also organized by the hotel). The prices are affordable and the restaurant Mille Fleur is outstanding - not just for Jamaica. Rafting on the Rio Grande is not just a ride in the amusement park "Jamaica". If you take your time you will enjoy an experience you will hardly get anywhere else at least in my opinion..
