The National Weather Service said confidence continues to increase about the possibility of severe weather this weekend in Alabama. All modes of severe weather will be on the table, including tornadoes, damaging winds and heavy rain. Severe storms could be possible in northwest Alabama on Friday and then statewide on Saturday.

The setup Friday through the weekend is a potentially dangerous one in parts of the South, Midwest and East. Some tornadoes could be strong and widespread damaging winds are also a threat.

The threat scale is one to five, with five being the highest chance of severe weather. Almost the entire state is under that elevated threat for Saturday, with the exception being the portion of Lauderdale County that juts over into northeast Mississippi.
