Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton enters a new race this summer — as a movie producer chasing the box office crown. He speeds into multiplexes with “F1 the Movie,” the high-octane blockbuster hopeful from his company Dawn Apollo Films and Apple Original Films.

It sounds a touch cynical, but not all producer credits carry the same amount of weight. The industry has a hefty history of what are called "vanity credits," which is when a person gets their name on a film despite having very little or possibly nothing to do with the production.

"F1" stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris as the two drivers in the movie. Joseph Kosinski - of "Top Gun: Maverick" fame - directed the movie while Apple Original Films produced it. The famous Hans Zimmer produced the film's score.
