Walt Disney World is gearing up for a major transformation, with plans to close iconic attractions in Frontierland to make way for a new "Cars"-themed area.

The Carousel of Progress, for example, predates the theme park, as a version of it appeared at a World's Fair, but it has been outdated for decades. Its progress stops in the early '80s and does not cover events like the arrival of smartphones or the internet.
