While the Hazelwood School District does not serve all students in the city, the demographics of the neighboring communities and school districts – Ferguson-Florissant and Pattonvile – are similar.

Since the 2018-19 school year, the Hazelwood School District has increased its rate of investigating student residency eightfold, deploying a team of employees who can use intrusive tactics.

The Hazelwood School District currently has a 24-hour school safety department that is responsible for security of staff and students on school grounds, according to the school system’s website.
