New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis sees 11-year veteran quarterback Derek Carr as “a guy we can win with, and we’re excited about it.” Loomis made those comments on Wednesday to a small group of New Orleans-based reporters who traveled to Indianapolis for the NFL scouting combine.

Per Katherine Terrell of ESPN, New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and recently hired head coach Kellen Moore indicated while speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday that Derek Carr will remain the club's starting quarterback through at least the 2025 season.

The Saints exercised their right to restructure Derek Carr's contract. Though the cap charge for 2025 makes it possible for a post-June 1 trade, Carr would have to waive his no-trade clause and the Saints would have to find a trade partner.

Former Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr is entering his 12th season in the NFL. Carr will have a new coach this fall in Kellen Moore. Moore spoke with media on Monday and shared the confidence he has in Carr as his starting QB.

Despite some speculation otherwise, first-year head coach Kellen Moore said the decision to move forward with Carr as his QB1 was a pretty clear one. “We talked about our confidence in this situation and the ability for him to have success here.
