Lake Michigan was the second-coldest of the five Great Lakes with an average of 51.1 degrees. Lake Ontario posted a high reading of 54.3 degrees, but was 41.9 degrees near Toronto, May 22.

According to the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project, Michigan averages around 40 deaths a year since 2010. Lake Michigan should be taken seriously. There have been 44 reported drownings this year alone.
