Did you know that shining a laser pointer at aircrafts counts as a federal crime? Well, according to border patrol agents, this is becoming more and more common in recent months.

The U.S. border protection agency says six separate incidents during border operations over the last few months involved lasers that has lead to at least one arrest so far amid a rise in such events.

A Department of Homeland Security helicopter patrolling the border in Texas was struck three times by a laser fired from a vehicle on the Mexican side of the border.

Customs and Border Protection indicated this week that agents have again been targeted by lasers during an operation, forcing them to "take evasive maneuvers." The agency said that this week's was the sixth such incident in the past four month,
