Rockstar Games announced on Friday that Grand Theft Auto VI 's release date has been pushed back to May 26, 2026. While a previous launch date was never officially announced, Take-Two Interactive—the publishing label that owns Rockstar— said in May 2024 that it was being targeted for fall 2025.

Rockstar Games clarified that the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer 2 features an equal mix of gameplay and cutscenes, all captured in-game on a PlayStation 5. The trailer's release followed the announcement of the game's delay to May 2026.
