Soap opera veteran Denise Alexander has passed away at the age of 85. Best known for playing Lesley Webber on General Hospital and Susan Hunter Martin on Days of Our Lives, Alexander began acting in the early 1950s before joining Days of Our Lives in 1966.

The network has renewed its daytime soap for a second season in 2025-26. Beyond the Gates has performed solidly in the ratings, improving significantly on the year-ago numbers for its afternoon time period (which was filled by The Talk) and helping CBS lead daytime among broadcast networks for the 39th straight year.

CBS has renewed the daytime soap opera “Beyond the Gates” for Season 2. The series originally debuted on the broadcast network in February. Per CBS, the series is up 48% in broadcast viewership over last year in the same period,
