New York City files lawsuit against Trump administration

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced the closure of the Asylum Seeker Arrival Center at The Roosevelt Hotel, citing declining migrant arrivals and cost-saving measures. The move comes amid a legal battle with the Trump administration over $80 million in withheld FEMA funds.
The program uses Customs and Border Protection funding and is managed by FEMA. It does not use money from FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund.
The court ruled that the Trump administration had a narrowly defined path to withhold some funds to the city that had been approved by Congress.
