Joel Embiid’s knee injury is turning into a serious concern for the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite multiple treatments, including injections, NBA insider Shams Charania reports that Embiid’s condition hasn’t improved.

Philly's disappointing move to rule Embiid out for Monday's game follows a concerning report from ESPN insider Shams Charania, which indicated that the Sixers are "consulting doctors and considering alternative options, such as surgery, for his injured left knee."

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Sunday evening that Embiid is “considering alternative options, such as surgery, for his injured left knee.” Embiid has been receiving regular injections in his knee in an attempt to remain on the court, but he’s still far from 100%.

It’s time for Philadelphia to shut Embiid and any other injured player down for an extended stretch (Paul George has admitted he is playing through pain, as is Kyle Lowry, among others). It’s time for the 76ers to let go of the rope this season and focus on the next one.
