As first reported by PHLY's Charlie O'Connor, Brad Shaw, once considered a leading candidate for the Philadelphia Flyers’ head coaching vacancy, will reportedly not be returning to the team’s coaching staff under newly-appointed head coach Rick Tocchet.

The Flyers are taking a methodical approach to their search, but the interim coach apparently remains in the conversation.

Tocchet started coaching with the Colorado Avalanche before joining Wayne Gretzky's staff with the Arizona Coyotes. He took some time off before returning in 2008-09 with the Tampa Bay Lightning. After stops with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Coyotes, and Vancouver Canucks, Tocchet now returns to Philadelphia for the first time since 2001-02.
