T ropical Storm Chantal began to weaken as it barreled inland across South Carolina early Sunday, July 6, after making landfall, though the storm still brought a threat of flash flooding, possible tornadoes and dangerous rip current conditions.
As Tropical Depression Chantal moved through North Carolina on Sunday, many residents were left behind with flooded roads and wind damage.
Tropical Storm Chantal may form from the Southeast coastal low that became Tropical Depression Three on Friday. The rest of the holiday weekend may bring rain for North Carolina beaches and a few storms over the Piedmont Triad.
