The growth of one wildfire burning on Colorado’s Western Slope has slowed to a crawl, but four others continue to scorch thousands of acres, fire officials said.

RIFLE, Colo. (KKTV) - Thursday afternoon, evacuations were put in place as a fire burned near Rifle in Western Colorado. The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said crews were responding to the Cottonwood Fire burning on County Road 309 just south of I-70 near mile marker 79 between Parachute and Rulison.
