The Japanese driver came under the fire of the passionate Argentinian Formula 1 fans after he expressed his frustrations with Colapinto when he blocked him during the first practice session on Friday.

Yuki Tsunoda has spoken out about the racist abuse he received online from fans of Franco Colapinto after a minor on-track incident between the two during the first practice session for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

IMOLA, Italy (AP) — Yuki Tsunoda crashed heavily in qualifying for Formula 1's Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix on Saturday, bringing out the red flag. Tsunoda clipped the curb on the inside of a left-hand corner with his Red Bull car and spun into the barrier. The car rolled upside down before landing on its wheels.

The Argentinian driver made his F1 debut last year when he took Logan Sargeant's seat at Williams for the latter part of the season. After impressing during his stint with the Grove outfit, he later signed with Alpine as a reserve and test driver for 2025.
