Austria’s Eurovision winner Johannes Pietsch, known as JJ, has called for Israel to be banned from next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. In an interview with Spanish newspaper El País, as cited by Der Standard, the 24-year-old artist expressed disappointment that Israel was allowed to participate in this year’s contest.

Austria has won the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, the country's first victory since 2014. Opera singer JJ clinched the title with "Wasted Love."

JJ of Austria has been crowned the winner of the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held in Basel, Switzerland's St. Jakobshalle arena.
