March 9: Jamien Sherwood was a backup going into the 2024 season for the Jets. A year later, and with a team MVP award under his belt, he just became one of the five highest-paid linebackers in the NFL after agreeing to re-sign with the Jets for $45 million ($30 million of it guaranteed) on a three-year deal.

The first week of free agency has been a busy one for the New York Jets. While the team did not sign any marquee free agents, they have spent over $100 million in total money to multiple players at different positions.

While a fresh start may prove what Justin Fields needs at this stage of his career, he'll have to show that he can develop as a passer and be more than just a short-term starter with the Jets.
