Gov. Kathy Hochul's administration and the union representing more than 13,000 New York correction officers reached a tentative agreement on ending the strike.

Following Governor Kathy Hochul’s announcement of a tentative agreement to end the corrections officer work stoppage across New York late Thursday night, guards on strike outside Groveland Correctional Facility say this deal isn’t the resolution they hoped for.

The officers union did not authorize the strike, and it was unclear how it would enforce the agreement. The stoppages have affected all but one of the state’s 42 prisons.
