After Tropical Storm Chantal made landfall in South Carolina over the Fourth of July weekend, the tropics are now quiet. Well, sort of. About 24 hours after landfall, Chantal is now a tropical depression, as it wanders across Virginia.
The National Hurricane Center, the Invest L-91 in the Atlantic has now upgraded to the third Tropical Depression of the 2025 hurricane season. At 5 p.m., the center of Tropical Depression Three was located moving toward the west-northeast at 6 mph.
