New York City collected $48.6 million in revenue from the first month of its congestion pricing program that the Trump administration has moved to kill, a transit agency said. Duffy did not give a time frame for trying to shut down congestion pricing, saying only that federal officials would contact the state to "discuss the orderly cessation of toll operations." MTA CEO Janno Lieber said tolling would "continue notwithstanding this baseless effort to snatch those benefits away."

The MTA anticipates the fee will bring in nearly $500 million a year, or about $40 million per month.

Congestion pricing is working, MTA officials said Monday, releasing data that showed the congestion pricing toll generated $48.7 million in gross revenue for January. The revenue data comes as the Trump administration seeks to kill the congestion toll by revoking a federal authorization given last year allowing the MTA to fund the capital plan with toll revenue.
