For the first time in almost a week, the tropics are quiet, after Invest 93L took most of the week to cross Florida, enter the Gulf and then move onshore in Louisiana Thursday afternoon, July 17.

Invest 93L is currently moving across the Florida Panhandle, where it's expected to bring heavy rains between Wednesday and Friday.

A Level 2 of 4 risk is in place Thursday along the Gulf Coast from east Texas to the west Florida panhandle – including New Orleans, Mobile, Alabama, and Gulfport, Mississippi.

The risk of dangerous flooding continues along the Gulf Coast from a no-name storm system that could lead to days of an enhanced flood risk along and north of the Interstate 10 corridor.

The worst-case scenario, where the system stalls near the coast, would mean parts of southern Louisiana could receive over a foot of rain, with rainfall rates up to 2 to 3 inches per hour.
