The Supreme Court remanded the election law violation case of liberal Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung for which he was acquitted of false statements by an appellate court.

South Korea ’s Supreme Court overturned on Thursday an earlier ruling that had cleared election front runner Lee Jae-myung of election law violation, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for the presidency.

The Supreme Court of Korea overturned the lower court’s decision to acquit former Democratic Party of Korea leader Rep. Lee Jae-myung on two charges of election law violations, sending the case back to the Seoul High Court.
