The investing conglomerate is looking to team up with TSMC on the initiative as SoftBank continues to pour money into AI.

SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son is pushing the idea of a vast $1tn artificial intelligence and robotics complex in the US state of Arizona that could include the establishment of a free-trade zone and the involvement of the world’s biggest chipmaker, TSMC.

Son envisions a version of China’s manufacturing hub of Shenzhen that would bring high-tech manufacturing to the US, sources told Bloomberg.
