Located on Highway No 1, some 120 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), the bridge is the first cable stayed structure and largest crossing in Vietnam. It has a total length of 1535 meters and provides four traffic lanes and two footways, some 40 meters above the Tien Giang river to facilitate shipping access to Phnom Phen in Cambodia.

My Thuan 2 Bridge was directly consulted and designed by TEDI Engineers. This is a national key project, a special-grade road traffic project, with a total route length of about 6.61 km (My Thuan 2 bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge).

On December 24, 2023, in Tien Giang, the Ministry of Transport held an inauguration ceremony and opened the My Thuan 2 bridge project across the Tien River, parallel to the existing My Thuan bridge.
