What makes today's RAF Mildenhall different from other U.S. Air Force bases is the diversity of the units assigned here. With units from four different major commands -- Air Combat Command , Air Force Special Operations Command , Air Mobility Command and U.S. Air Forces in Europe -- we have a wide variety of missions occurring simultaneously.

From March to September 1971, RAF Mildenhall became host to 45 F-100 Super Sabers from the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath. This was the first time in RAF Mildenhall's history that fighters operated from the base.

Mission The Commando II flies clandestine, or low visibility, single or multiship, low-level infiltration, exfiltration and resupply of special operations forces, by airdrop or airland and air refueling missions for special operations helicopters and tiltrotor aircraft, intruding politically sensitive or hostile territories.

Located at Royal Air Force Mildenhall in the United Kingdom, the 100 ARW is the only U.S. tanker wing assigned to Europe and Africa refueling U.S. and partner nation aircraft over a span of more than 20 million square miles employing the KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft.
