Dec 25, 2008 · Thanks for the replies. I had a couple of conversations this week that arrived at the same conclusions. My carpenter says the double truss and hand framing is less expensive because the truss company will have to do some engineering to change the trusses over the opening otherwise. Dec 13, 2012 · A truss, even a manf. one used it a 1 1/2 storey building would have to have a lot of lower anti spread strenght built into it. As your ceiling joist / collar tie/ triangler area / cross piece, would be high up / a long way for the bearing point / heal area. How would you build in / design that anti spread part of said truss??

Jan 19, 2014 · I'm still in the design phase of my Garage Conversion. One thing I'd like to do is modify the Fink Truss in the Garage to a Cathedral Ceiling with a Structural Ridge Beam. The attached image shows the Current Truss with the Sunporch on the Left & the Garage on the Right. This will be my first project involving Truss's so I'm learning as I go.

Nov 18, 2017 · I'm wanting to use a raised heel parallel chord truss on my 20x40 1 1/2 build. In the loft area I'm planning a 10'-12' shed dormer. My question concerns attic trusses. Can they be made so that the shed roof is a couple of feet below the ridge line and can the "wall" part be inset slightly from the exterior wall.
