Apr 30, 2020 · Lock strength on an OTF is a little weird, because you've got a bunch of different parts that could fail and cause the blade to unlock. The pin that goes through the blade to keep it from falling out of the knife is probably the least likely thing to break. But the sears and springs that lock the knife open and closed are relatively tiny.

Jan 18, 1999 · The Christy knife is a manual OTF. My Dad used to carry one. It's a very small clip point, a keychain knife really, with a skeleton handle. The blade slides forward and locks in closed, partially open, and fully extended positions. The Cold Steel ER-1 is a small mini-serrated sheepsfoot manual OTF with a Zytel handle.

Jan 8, 2013 · the lighter fluid evaporates fairly quickly and leaves a bit of lubrication. too much lubrication is a otf killer. this is what the otf and auto guys always recommend first before tinkering and such. if that doesnt work it could be many other things. these things are pretty simple and usually dont break. good luck.

Aug 8, 2019 · I EDC'd a Microtech DA OTF for a little while and I would not carry an OTF again as my primary knife. My personal opinion is that they are expensive for what you get, finicky, difficult to keep clean, and difficult to service, but I am biased towards knives that I can quickly detail strip, clean, and reassemble on my own, and OTFs are about as far away from that as you get.

Apr 10, 2007 · Holding it firmly against a flat surface, the blade tip wiggles a sixteenth of an inch from side to side and over an eight of an inch up and down. I've never seen an OTF, knock-off or otherwise, with such bad blade play. It's worse than a cheap butterfly knife. Edge grind is pretty even though the knife is pretty dull.

Got 'em back when the company was unknown and picked them up for very little.
