For this task, they summoned the help of their Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

In the movie its John Candy's car. They use it throughout the movie, including a scene where they have a bear on the hood and roof. You can very easily see that they removed the hood and poorly painted an old one so they wouldn't destroy the original one.
