Spark Plug Gap & effect - Engine & fuel engineering | Eng-Tips
Nov 27, 2005 · Some years ago I undertook an extensive study of various spark plug designs and types. This was carried out on a single cylinder version of a modern contemporary 24 valve 3.0 litre high performance V6 engine design.
Lomakin Effect - Pump engineering | Eng-Tips
Nov 26, 2007 · In effect, the wear ring or bushing becomes a stable bearing. This reduces the chance of a rub, even with a flexible rotor. When you change to Vespel, you will run tighter clearances. This increases the Lomakin affect and the rotor is even more stable and likely to stay close to the center of the clearances.
Thermal expansion effects on inside diameter of hole 2 - Eng-Tips
Dec 15, 2002 · There is alway a transition zone where you can have even no effect of local heating - you heat but the diameter does not change. However, this is relatively small "gray" area. In reality you may have both INCREASE and DECREASE depending upon the force balance, which, in turn, depends on how much material you have around the hole.
Affect - Effect - Engineering Language/Grammar Skills - Eng-Tips
Mar 16, 2004 · Effect means “to bring about or execute”: layoffs designed to effect savings. Thus the sentence These measures may affect savings could imply that the measures may reduce savings that have already been realized, whereas These measures may effect savings implies that the measures will cause new savings to come about.
Tire Spring Rate and its Affect on Vehicle Suspension. 1 - Eng-Tips
Nov 14, 2005 · on another effect of increasing the tyre spring rate versus the suspension wheel rate, if it is a race car, you would find the tyres take longer to reach operating temp (if everything else compound wise was equal). This is because the energy input into the contact patch will be taken more by the suspension spring, and less by the tyre.
NPSHa vs NPSHr - Pump engineering | Eng-Tips
May 9, 2007 · Artisi & BigInch - Thanks, I appreciate your feedback. But Artisi, if adjustments have to be made to the NPSHr if the tests are not performed at sea level, then doesn't that mean that the elevation affects (I hope that is right, I always get affect and effect mixed up) the NPSHr.
Calculation For Intake runner length? - Engine & fuel engineering
May 6, 2006 · "Notice that with invididual throttle bodies (ITB's) you lose this resonance effect because the reflected wave escapes out into the engine bay (or the atmosphere) and is not stored and returned by a plenum/acoustic chamber. ITB's do NOT use ram theory to get that extra kick at peak torque because they usually in race form do not have a plenum.
Pumps in Parallel - Water treatment and distribution - Eng-Tips
Feb 27, 2013 · A longer discharge pump will also have an affect on the pump(s). One would expect that there will be some backpressure from the discharge conduit that both pumps are discharging into. So it would probably be considered a parallel pumping arrangement, with the effect of the discharge piping arrangement dependent on the flow generated headloss.
why pipe diameter increases after pump discharge 5 - Eng-Tips
Feb 6, 2013 · For the suction side, the practical reason is that the maximum velocity in the pipeline should be limted to around 5 ft/s. Anything higher will result in excessive friction loss which could affect the NPSHa We as designers don't care why the pump manufacturer size their pump nozzles the way they do. They have their own reasons.
Parallel operation of Centrifugal fans - HVAC/R engineering
Apr 12, 2002 · After fan VFD has turned down to minimum approximately 3000 FPM exit velocity, open up the OA bypass to mix w/ the lab exhaust air & keep the stack discharge velocity in the 3000 FPM range. Consider using strobic fans w/ plenum & OA bypass dampers. Size duct connection to plenum at max 1200 FM velocity to minimize system effect losses.
