Jan 26, 2010 · CARC sanding residue is no more dangerous that any other polyurethane paint residue. PRC DeSoto makes a chemical stripper called PR-3500 which contains phenol which will blister the skin in short order, plus it has a very distinctive smell.

One well-known brand in rattle cans was notorous for turning pink after a few years. Although not a big concern for us stateside MV operators; anything not CARC will stand out like a fish in a tree when viewed with night vision devices.

I used DOT 3 brake fluid to strip some CARC coated parts. As Bill's post says - it's an extremely slow process.

May 20, 2010 · Cured CARC paint is no more hazardous than any other type of automotive paint. Check out the CAS numbers for the hazard recognition for the paints. CARC contains some heavy metals and reacted isocynates. Typical automotive enamel paint also contains heavy metals, just no isocynates. The usual precautions pertain to any paint being removed.

Jan 26, 2010 · Here's a different one, my DTC 8606 forklift has CARC paint on it just looks like normal camo. There is a stencil on the right front fender that states: WDCARC 01/05 I was told that meant it was painted with the water based CARC in January of 05. Last winter it started popping paint in quarter sized spots all over the forktruck down to bare metal.

Feb 17, 2017 · CARC paint is a military specification and all paint used by the military meets that requirement. So they make the specs for manufacturers to adhere to, and each makes it to that spec. Although, I think two of the main suppliers to the actual military are Sherwin and Hentzen coatings... but don't quote me on that.
