Evans Hydraulic Heads - A quick review! | Drummerworld Forum
Jan 24, 2020 · All skins have a sweet spot, but the range for the Evans Hydraulic is very narrow. The sweet spot I found - which worked well on all of the drums from 10" - 22" was a reading of 80% on a Drum Dial at each lug (90% for the 14" UV Hydraulic Snare batter).

Evans EC Resonant v Evans Reso7 drum heads - Drummerworld
Mar 29, 2020 · Based upon my knowledge of Remo heads, the Evans Reso7 seems similar to the Remo Diplomat, whereas the EC is similar to the Remo Ambassador. The thinner the resonant head, the less resonant it will be, at least in theory. Coating can kill resonance even more. Though the coating adds mass, it also acts as a muffler.
Evans Onyx Heads | Drummerworld Forum
Sep 18, 2015 · I actually really like the Onyx as a snare batter on a Black Beauty-style brass snare drum (Ludwig Black Magic, Pork Pie Big Black, PDP Ace, Pearl Sensitone Brass, etc.). It reminds me of an ST snare batter (both are 2 plies of 7.5mil film, but the films are different), but with a darker response and slightly softer feel.

Nov 17, 2020 · I have had a set of Evans Hydraulic in blue on my toms and bass drum for the past 40 years. The same set. Only recently did I notice that the outer layer of the bass drum head had cracked and separated. Not bad for 40 years. I bought them back in …

This kit is one of my absolute favorites and I cannot talk highly enough...
Modern Equivalent of Evans Looking Glass heads - Drummerworld
Dec 1, 2016 · "I use Remo Black Dot drum heads on my snare and bass drums, Ludwig Silver Dots on the concert toms and timbales, and Evans Looking Glass (top), and Blue Hydraulic (bottom) on the tom-tom. I use Promark 747 drumsticks, with …
Remo silentstroke and Evans soundoff mesh heads: the feel?
May 22, 2020 · In my experience the only drum that you can use a mesh batter to drastically reduce volume but still sound like a drum is the snare due to most of that remaining tone coming from the reso, wires, and shallow shell. That whole principal is why the modern 'gospel' drum sound features such deep thuddy toms, bass, and snare.
*New* Evans dB One low volume heads and cymbals
Jul 5, 2022 · I don't think those pieces of foam move that much air to be honest, I experimented with duct tape and pieces of foam under mesh heads and didn't have any luck. Just a small patch on top makes way more difference in terms of tone. Toms sound good anyway, I like the sound. Bass drum sounds cool, probably my favourite.
