The primary ski season ends in April and the hiking season does not get going until late June, so that is a good time for repairs and vacations for the locals, but it won't shut down completely.

Aug 26, 2011 · The trouble with the Klein matterhorn area is that it is so close to the Matterhorn that you either cannot see the mountain, or the shape is very distorted. The best views of the Matterhorn are from farther away. And for the classic view, reflected in a lovely lake, hike to the Stellisee from the top of the Sunnegga lift.

Jan 18, 2025 · The two Furggsattel runs are very, very wide so the steeper gradient at the top is forgiving, and the run down from Klein Matterhorn is not too challenging either; the steeper pitches are very wide - don't take a wrong turn to Italy, though. But, I still enjoyed my time there because Zermatt is in a gorgeous setting with or without the Matterhorn. If you’ll be disappointed if you go for 2 nights and not see the Matterhorn, I wouldn’t go. My experience in Lugano was different from Pat’s.
