It's great when folk like yourself go that extra mile for authenticity and you capture that era to a tee! I do the same when it comes to getting gear, so often you can get originals for cheaper that repros.

Jan 8, 2006 · Included with the summer (Khaki No. 1) uniform were THREE broadcloth cotton shirts, all still pinned and in the original plastic packaging. Unfortunately, the shirts are 16.5 x 35 and thus too tight for me. However, I am keeping one of the shirts -- the "Bendone" that matches the summer uniform (lower right in photo):

Jan 16, 2006 · Now, I don't wear my Pinks and Greens all over town and parade like I'm an Officer of the 8th Air Force but, I do wear it to dances and WWII events. I have talked to several people who have had Fathers or Grandfathers that served in the Air Forces in WWII and they tell me how nice it is to see some one wear the uniform correctly.

Nov 23, 2005 · MYCROFT: The second MaGuire book (More Silver Wings, Pinks, and Greens) has a lot of useful information for WWI, between the Wars, WWII, and CAP. I would also suggest the Osprey "Men-at-Arms" series. (I haven't checked anything but the WWII volumes, but I know they have WWI titles.)
