Our program themes are a means for self-discovery and meeting core learning objectives. They may affect the kind of community service projects you participate in, immersive learning components you take part in, or the kinds of guided group discussions that are initiated by your GLA Program Mentor.

On a GLA Language Immersion program, take classes that improve your Spanish, no matter your skill level. Explore the world through a new lens as you use your cultural and language skills to get to know locals in your host community.

On a GLA Youth & Education program, be a friend and role model to the youngest generation. Provide educational support to children, both in school and outside the classroom. Or leave a lasting impact on a school through infrastructure improvements.

On a GLA Sciences & STEM program, gain hands-on experience in one or more of the STEM fields: science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. We aim for students to critically think about problems from the lenses of science and technology to help solve problems in their homebase communities.

On a GLA Animal & Wildlife Conservation program, collaborate with experts on issues surrounding wildlife conservation. Spend time up-close and personal with elephants, sea turtles, giant tortoises, or rescue animals such as cats and dogs.

On a GLA Sports Leadership program, you may help to improve sports infrastructure in a shared community space, facilitate pick-up games with local kids, or use sports as a way to build bridges across cultural and social divides.

Celebrate the meaningful impact you’ve made, the lessons you’ve learned, and the friendships you’ve built with a special farewell dinner at Home Base.
