Throughout their career, which spanned 22 years until their disbandment in 1996, the Ramones released 14 studio albums, starting with their self-titled debut Ramones in 1976, which is hailed as a landmark in punk rock. They also released six live albums and numerous compilations.

The Ramones recorded their debut album, Ramones, in February 1976. Of the fourteen songs on the album, the longest, "I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement", barely surpassed two and a half minutes.
