The Fort of Bost, locally referred to as Qala-e-Bost (Dari: قلعه بست; Pashto: بست کلا), is a fortification near Lashkargah in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan, which is believed by some to have been built approximately 3,000 years ago.

The Bost Fort, a pre-Islamic structure, is one of Afghanistan’s most significant cultural heritage sites. It is located on a muddy hill beside the Harirod river, near modern-day Lashkar Gah. Historically, it served as a vacation spot for Sultan Masood Ghaznavi.

Dec 15, 1989 · The baked-brick “arch of Bost” is the monumental remnant of a large mosque erected under the Ghurids or possibly the Ḵᵛārazmšāhs. The soffit of the imposing arch is faced with cut-brick decoration in a pattern of interlocking lozenges, which has been somewhat spoiled by recent restorations (Schlumberger, 1978, s.v.).
