Apr 20, 2020 · There is a whining noise coming from the fuel pump (I think its the fuel pump, top right when looking at the engine) but its only noticeable when putting your head up to it. Also, on idle, it can sometimes feel a tad lumpy for a few seconds.

Jun 9, 2023 · Car: 2013 Q7 TDI 3.0 (CNRB) Current Problem: P0087 Fuel pressure to low. Background: A couple years ago the glow plug light came on randomly. Car still drove fine. Local Audi dealer did the following to under TDI warranty: (more on that later) 98292mi: replaced fuel pressure sensor (05A-906-051) 98680mi: replaced cylinder #3 and #5 injectors.

Jul 8, 2012 · I'd be looking at the pressure-control valve (on the pump or rail), but for giggles check the clutch switch too. Looks like either the pump can't keep up with the leakoff at low revs or the valve is leaking/opening too far, tho.

Apr 10, 2020 · Theory: The secondary in-tank fuel pump has failed or is very weak. Rationale: The car runs perfectly fine (manages high pressure in the rail quite well) until it reaches an RPM level requiring more fuel flow and pressure. The Audi Q7 has two lift (in-tank) fuel pumps, and both run continuously.

Nov 6, 2023 · Hi, I’ve been getting a low fuel pressure fault. It’s fine under about 3000 rpm, but then I get the flashing glow plug light and goes into limp mode. Tick over and general driving is fine. I think there are 3 obvious things that could cause it.

Oct 7, 2022 · Before replacing the HPFP swap out the fuel filter then try the fuel temperature sensor. it is the cheapest component to start with, it reads only 1-2 ohms of resistance when new and cold. Once it gets old and heats up it can be over 400ohms.

Mar 26, 2016 · My 2012 Q7 (165k miles) has been having an issue the last 4 months where randomly, after it has been running and is warm, it will crank forever but not fire. Usually, I can cycle the key a few times (priming the low pressure pump?) and it will start. I have zero issues with it when it is running.

Sep 2, 2020 · P0087 is fuel rail pressure too low, but is about the high pressure system. Fuel system pressure too low for the low pressure system is P008A, according to the Quick Ref Spec Book. And we see that in your "free acceleration" chart, but not in your "full acceleration" chart.

Jan 28, 2020 · The pump is between the engine and the fire wall and not easy to get to. To lower the high pressure fuel the two options are very gently easing off the nuts on high pressure fuel lines or, more properly, disconnecting the fuel sensor from the hpfp and letting the engine run for 10 -15 seconds.

Feb 20, 2010 · If clogged fuel filter, shouldn't that not cause problems at high load (high fuel flow) instead of at idle (low flow)? Any suggestions what could cause fuel pressure problems at idle only.
